“affordance”という言葉の意味

「affordance（アフォーダンス）」とは、
心理学者 J・J・ギブソンによって提唱された造語です。

「物事」や「環境」が人に与える
「意味」や「可能性」のこと。

同じ物でもその価値や用途は、手にする人・環境によって引き出されていくという思考です。
丈夫で永く使うことのできる革カバンや革こものは、
それを使う人と時間によって、より愛着のある「モノ」として完成していきます。
affordanceは、制作する物を介して何かが生まれるきっかけになりたいと考えています。
　

“affordance” is a term coined by psychologist J. J. Gibson.
The”meaning” or “value” that “things” or “environments” give to people. It is the thought that the value and use of the same thing is brought out by the person/environment who gets it. The leather bag or leather goods that are durable and can be used for a long time are These leather bags and leather goods are completed as “things” with more attachment depending on the people who use them and the time they spend.
I want to be a catalyst for the birth of something through the objects I create.

affordanceのロゴマーク

2010年から始まったaffordance。
2019年に故郷である自然豊かな福岡県福津市に拠点を移し、そのタイミングでロゴマークを刷新しました。
このロゴマークは制作している場所を表しています。
文字もそれぞれ記号のようにも見えるし、文字としても読める。
見方によって変わるところが、使う人それぞれにアジの出方が違う、革の経年変化のようで気に入っています。

ロゴデザインは濱祐斗さんです。

Affordance started in 2010. In 2019, we moved our base to our hometown, Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, which is rich in nature, and at that time we updated our logo. This logo mark represents the production location. Each letter looks like a symbol and can also be read as a letter. I like that it changes depending on how you look at it, and the appearance of the leather differs depending on the person who uses it, just like how the leather changes over time.

The logo design is by Yuto Hama.

素材へのこだわり　

製品に使用している牛革は、兵庫県のタンナーと一緒に作っているオリジナルのベジタブルフルタンニン鞣しの牛革です。また、牛が生きていたときについた傷やシミで使いにくい革や制作過程の端切れも無駄にしないよう、「re:affordance」というシリーズで風変わりな製品も制作しています。

The cowhide used in our products is our original vegetable fully tanned cowhide that we make with a tannery in Hyogo prefecture.
We also produce quirky products in a series called “re:affordance” so as not to waste leather that is difficult to use due to scratches and stains from the cow’s life or scraps from the production process.
